The transformer is a static electric
machine capable of lowering or raising the value of an alternating voltage.
It consists of a ferromagnetic material
core around which are placed two windings called primary and secondary
It is used to power electrical consumers
operating on alternating current with a voltage other than the 230 V mains
voltage.
The primary winding is the one that is
powered, while the secondary winding is the one that supplies power to the
load.
For this reason, transformers can be
voltage reducers or elevators depending on the purpose for which they were
built.
The transformers are divided into
single-phase, three-phase and three-phase transformers.
